Recognizing Movement using Motion
نویسنده
چکیده
In this paper, we present a real-time computer vision approach to recognizing human movements based on patterns of motion. The underlying representation is a Motion History Image (MHI) which is characterized by multiple histograms of the local motion orientations. The approach is adapted to accommodate movements of diierent durations by using a simple iterative technique. Quantitative results are given showing discrimination between diierent human movements using the approach. An extension addressing occlusion and distractor motion is also presented within this framework.

متن کاملRecognizing Activities
The recognition of repetitive movements character istic of walking people galloping horses or ying birds is a routine function of the human visual system It has been demonstrated that humans can recognize such activity solely on the basis of motion information We demonstrate a general computational method for recog nizing such movements in real image sequences using what is essentially template...
متن کاملRecognizing Animals Using Motion Parts
We describe a method for automatically recognizing animals in image sequences based on their distinctive locomotive movement patterns. The 2-D motion field associated with the animal is represented using a ‘configuration of motion parts’ model, the characteristics of which are learned from training data. We adopt an unsupervised approach to learning model parameters, based on minimal a priori k...
متن کاملRecognizing Whispered Speech Produced by an Individual with Surgically Reconstructed Larynx Using Articulatory Movement Data.
Individuals with larynx (vocal folds) impaired have problems in controlling their glottal vibration, producing whispered speech with extreme hoarseness. Standard automatic speech recognition using only acoustic cues is typically ineffective for whispered speech because the corresponding spectral characteristics are distorted. Articulatory cues such as the tongue and lip motion may help in recog...
متن کاملGenerating and recognizing free-space movements in humanoid robots
We introduce a computationally efficient methodology for generating and recognizing free-space movements for humanoid robots. This methodology operates on exemplar-based representations of behaviors. Our method for actuating humanoid robots allows us to perform variations on a given behavior, resulting in a very humanlike movement appearance. Besides control, this method also facilitates classi...
